Program Manager - GO Transit

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

You will act as the railway lead to support the delivery of commuter rail projects on Railway property or which affect Railway operations. You will protect CPKC’s operational and financial interests by negotiating agreements, overseeing construction, managing consultants and ensuring that all proposed work meets CPKC’s guidelines and standards. You will be accountable for recoveries from Third parties for CPKC inputs to external projects.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Act as a Railway lead dealing with Commuter Rail agencies for commuter construction projects which affect CPKC property or CPKC operations
  • Manage consultants to provide project planning and cost estimates of CPKC input required to ensure Railway interests in the commuter rail construction projects are protected
  • Manage consultants to review project planning and design submissions to the Railway by commuter rail agencies and their contractors to ensure compliance with applicable CPKC, AREMA and regulatory guidelines and standards
  • Manage consultants to provide safe, timely and cost effective execution of work to ensure Railway interests are protected
  • Work closely with consultants in managing commuter rail construction projects on Railway property
  • Protects CPKC’s risk exposure by negotiating and executing agreements for all work on CPKC property
  • Ensures insurance and safety requirements in place prior to those parties are performing work on Railway property
  • Attends meetings and site inspections in support of commuter rail projects

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A university degree in Civil Engineering, Liscensed Professional Engineers are prefferred
  • Ten to fifteen years of railway experience with progressive responsibility in physical plant and structure maintenance, construction, and project management
  • Familiarity with CPKC planning and appropriation process, CPKC standards & practices, Railway Operating
  • Rules (CROR), state and Federal Railroad Administration regulations and other applicable railway related standards and regulations
  • Ability to enforce procedural compliance and safety on project sites
  • Interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills
  • Experience with SAP is considered an asset
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of incoming requests, while maintaining continuous
  • progress on active projects
  • Completely fluent in English (Written and spoken)

Management Conductor Program:
