PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Drive and maneuver equipment safely and efficiently. Operate material handling devices (forklifts or knuckle booms) to handle railway, other track material, track and bridge and other materials (such as ties) throughout the plant. Uses developed knowledge and skills to perform tasks and procedures with a moderate degree of supervision. Identifies problems and relevant issues in straightforward situations. Delivers work to agreed timescales, service levels or similar metric.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Loads, unloads and moves materials safely in a high-quality manner without damage throughout the plant including
  • Unloading in Receiving
  • Transferring to Separator
  • Loading by boom
  • Moving from stacker to drying yard
  • Moves tram lines around and loads rail cars.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of material handling devices and for notifies maintenance department of any problems.
  • Reports activity in the warehouse to the CDA Manager to ensure accurate accounting for materials in SAP.
  • Exemplifies CPKC Vision, Values, and Culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations
  • Experience driving a vehicle or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of rail, other track material (OTM), switches, and bridge material in order to sort, stack, house and handle appropriately
  • Basic computer skills
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and/or heavy construction equipment
  • Knowledge of safe work environment applications.
  • This position has a regular full-time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
  • This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.

This includes candidates participating in the Trainee Program who will also be required to pass a drug test during the training process before receiving final qualification for the position.
