PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Representative, Receivables Management, you will work with key internal and external stakeholders to protect the financial position of CPKC through the timely collection of receivable balances due under customer contracts and public tariffs while developing and maintaining strong client relationships. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and timely collection of the past due receivables, protecting CPKC’s Financial position
  • Adhere to daily targets and departmental objectives
  • Investigate/validate account discrepancies by working with CPKCs internal and external customers
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders such as Operations and Marketing & Sales
  • Strategically manage multiple escalated accounts in addition to a non-escalated portfolio while ensuring visibility to matters through the maintenance of collection metrics
  • Drill down to the root cause to resolve complex issues; working with leaders to ensure a go-forward process is in place
  • Build business cases to support write-offs or settlements
  • Drive process improvement by proactively identifying issues and propose solutions
  • Provide subject matter expertise support to other departments or projects as required
  • Protect CPKC’s value by keeping information confidential

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education majoring in Accounting or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Three years’ experience in a collections role
  • SAP knowledge is an asset
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive, and inspiring in both written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment with the skill-set to conduct meetings to ensure all parties are present and understand their roles
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Railroad or transportation experience preferred

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
