PURPOSE OF POSITION:

As a distributor you will manage weekly and day to day allocation of railcar assets for various lines of business towards customer demand commitments. The successful candidate will also manages loaded and empty pipelines of assigned customers across different supply chains and communicates/escalates conditions of such pipelines.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate short/mid-term demand (0 to 3 week window) to match fleet requirements.
  • Coordinate empty order fulfillment to meet forecasts.
  • Communicate directly with customers (priorities/contingencies) up to the traffic manager level.
  • Develop action plans for dwelling equipment to meet KPI requirements.
  • Communicate pipeline conditions to both internal and external customers.
  • Track supplementary/ancillary service charges consistent with products and services sold.
  • Monitor equipment flows in relation to trip plans and make suggestions on improvement.
  • Enters all data in timely manner into railcar/order management/demand management systems and ensures the integrity of said data.
  • Manages/tracks various customer loading schedules and reports on progress and variances.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree or Post-secondary Diploma recommend or equivalent industry knowledge. 
  • Experience with CPR along with geographic/operating systems/commercial knowledge would be an asset.
  • Prior transportation experience with supply chain and logistics would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail,  verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills – ability to function as part of a team.
  • Strong computing skills with the ability to learn new systems and adapt.
  • Able to deal with emergent situations on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to provide weekend coverage.

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
