PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The individual is responsible for working at an operational level with an understanding of SAP, its underlying database, operating system, hardware platform and networking principles to keep the environment reliable for day-to-day rail operations.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Provide Service - Engage, collaborate, and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders to deliver the business values;
    • Control Costs - Control fixed costs, achieve more with fewer resources by automation of repeatable tasks, implement data governance and industry best practices;
    • Optimize Assets - Find opportunities to simplify and optimize processes and methods to give better business values - This includes downtime optimization during patching window, ensuring uptime by HA/DR solution;
    • Operate Safely - Keep SAP systems safe by timey implementing of SAP Security Notes and Critical Patches. Participate in DR rehearsals, annual system and database audits working with internal/external auditors to ensure compliance of systems;
    • Develop People - Must be an excellent team player with great collaboration skills. Mentor and coach junior and intermediate team members;

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience;
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in SAP Basis support;
    • Excellent problem solving, decision making and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation);
    • Must have in-depth experience in Basis/HANA Administration with core strength in all aspects of system & database administration;
    • Designing and Implementing High Availability/ Disaster Recovery Solutions for SAP Applications;
    • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
    • Architecting and deploying SAP solutions on at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure or GCP);
    • Ability to lead conversations with Customers, SAP, SAP Partners, Developers, and Architects;
    • Experience in Installation, Upgrades and Maintenance of SAP Net weaver Suite of products like SAP ECC, BI, BO/BODS, PO, GRC, Portal, Solution Manager and HANA;
    • Create documentation related to infrastructure, architectural diagrams, processes, and procedures and updated as required;
    • Able and willing to work in rotating on-call schedules including weekends;
    • Individuals must participate in hybrid work model in CP office (Calgary) or any of the supported regions in CP owned property;

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • SAP Certifications in S/4HANA, OS/DB Migration, NetWeaver and SAP HANA preferred;
    • Hands-on, results-oriented and pragmatic;
    • Strong organizational and problem solving skills;
    • Experience in working with internal stakeholders and managing priorities and deadlines across multiple teams;
    • Stay current with technology trends and participate in development of future SAP roadmap;
