PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Mechanical Foreman oversees shop and service track operations, manages heavy repairs, and coordinates responses to main line outages. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical repair expertise on locomotives and cars.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Organize daily work schedules and supervise employees conducting maintenance
- Set clear expectations and ensure accountability for staff in the shop, yard, or service island
- Train craftspeople in all aspects of locomotive and car repairs, and evaluate the quality of their work
- Conduct safety briefings and reinforce safety protocols with the team
- Lead and coordinate multiple workforce groups and projects simultaneously
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in both car and locomotive maintenance
- Must be familiar with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) Rules and Regulations and be able to prepare and accurately fill out all forms required for the operation
- Strong leadership and communication skills is an asset
- Strong understanding of SAP, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office programs

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
