PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Senior SAP Project Manager is planning, organizing, and supervising the completion of one or multiple projects using their skills, knowledge, and experience. They help to establish the overall project and its deliverables by acting as the customer’s single point of contact for the project, controlling the planning and executing project activities and resources to ensure established scope, budget, time, and quality goals are met.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Partner with technical and business leaders to define project opportunities, including scope, schedule, budget, and benefits
  • Plan and execute projects (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) ensuring delivery on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards
  • Define and secure project resources, set expectations, and monitor delivery performance across internal and external teams
  • Develop project estimates using Agile methodologies and maintain accurate financial tracking (SAP/Excel)
  • Identify and manage stakeholders, ensuring ongoing engagement throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead requirements definition with Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Technical Leads to ensure expected outcomes
  • Coordinate delivery across technical, QA, and project teams to ensure aligned execution and testing
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, manage competing priorities, and secure delivery commitments
  • Oversee implementation planning, including testing, dry runs, and go-live to ensure minimal production impact
  • Monitor risks and issues, escalating as needed, and ensure compliance with PMO, SOX, and governance standards
  • Drive change management, transition to support, continuous improvement (lessons learned), and provide leadership to project teams

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree or equivalent in Commerce/Business Administration, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 10 years of experience leading large, multi-stakeholder business focused application development IS projects
  • Experience delivering Custom Development, and/or Application Integration projects using primary Iterative, Agile or Waterfall Project methodologies
  • Proven experience delivering SAP projects (ECC, S/4HANA, integrations, upgrades, regulatory) Strong understanding of SAP landscape complexity (modules, middleware, data, security) Experience with system upgrades, migrations, or regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Lead SOW development, participate in contract negotiations, and manage Vendors and materials delivery
  • Hands-on experience using Jira and Microsoft Project to plan and deliver projects
  • Ability to communicate and influence decision making at executive and working levels, with demonstrated prioritization and conflict resolution experience
  • Advanced project management practical expertise across knowledge areas: scope, time, cost, quality, human resource, communication, risk and procurement and integration management
  • Project Management Professional certificate (PMP) or equivalent experience
  • PMI-ACP or Certified Scrum Master would be considered an asset

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
