PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Track Evaluation Car Department CO-OP Student, you will collaborate with seasoned engineers to support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of advanced rail inspection equipment. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll travel extensively across North America, directly contributing to the safety, integrity, and quality of our rail infrastructure.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support quality assurance and control processes
- Monitor track recording systems and data collection tools
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
- Assist with data processing and archiving
- Learn how railway engineering works—on the ground and in motion
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited institution
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for data analysis and practical technical tasks
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license and passport with eligibility to travel throughout Canada and the U.S.
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time (all expenses covered)

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Medical and Drug Testing
This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
