Accounting Analyst (Revenue Planning)

As the Accounting Analyst (Revenue Planning) you will work with Marketing to construct corporate reports on revenue, demand, and key performance indicators. This role will work closely with our internal customers to develop CPKC’s short- and long-term revenue and demand forecast by applying sophisticated statistical methods and business knowledge. Coordinate information for CPKC's daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly operations, providing insights for collaborators and accurate forecasts. The key is to develop new reports using SAP BPC or BI, work to understand variance causes and their impact on internal and external reporting, and communicate consolidated key forecast metrics for continuous improvement among the larger Revenue Planning team.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage relationships between finance and commercial for a portfolio of commodities aligned to a specific VP including finance input on central initiatives
  • Partner with commercial to build budgets and forecasts
  • Develop and complete daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly reports that show how CPKC is meeting its targets
  • Collaborate cross functionally within finance and across other collaborator groups to enable profitable, balanced growth
  • Help validate and publish internal reports on revenues, demand, and relevant measures
  • Engage with the commercial team to identify market trends and demand changes to enable decision analysis
  • Supervise data integrity to ensure consistent reporting
  • Help consolidate revenue and meaningful data for reporting purposes
  • Develop automated self-serve reports for use across CPKC
  • Help identify and implement improvements in performance and data upkeep to achieve business goals that may be business and/or technical in nature
  • Use time series statistical forecasting techniques to develop a base plan
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to improve plan with specific customer details
  • Significant interaction with the business divisions to understand and articulate key drivers of change

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Min. 1+ year experience in a planning role dedicated to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, revenue planning 
  • Demonstrates capability to interpret a wide array of information and resolve key messages to bridge the gap between analytics and business understanding
  • Strong digital literacy, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • BPC, BI and SAP experience an asset
