PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Accounting Analyst position supports various Finance teams in the execution of their responsibilities. This role involves completing three to four rotations across different accounting functions within CPKC. The successful candidate will report to a mentor who will assist them in completing their application for the CPA designation via the Experience Verification path.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform journal entries and reconciliations
  • Coordinate activities with the multiple internal stakeholders that provide information into the accounting and reporting process or require its output
  • Prepare external financial disclosures
  • Prepare financial analysis on monthly and quarterly data
  • Document internal control processes
  • Identify, analyze and reconcile inconsistent information and recommend adjustments where necessary
  • Identify and analyze possible improvements to processes and implement selected solutions
  • Address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0 - 1 years of experience in a finance or accounting role; experience in a professional services environment is considered an asset.
  • Registered (or registering) in training towards CPA designation
  • Undergraduate degree or College Diploma program in the following areas of study:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Business Administration
    • Commerce
    • Economics

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
