PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position is responsible to manage the design, delivery, and support of CPKC’s wayside detectors. The role requires the individual to provide communications solutions and maintenance for all of CPKC’s detectors including Hot Bearing Detector (HBD), Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI) detectors, Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD), Trackside Acoustic Detection System (TADs), Wheel Profile Detector (WPD), and others. The position also supports trackside HVAC maintenance and contracts. As a level 5 position it presents a growth opportunity for the candidate to develop into a more advanced and skilled design and delivery role. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design HBD and AEI detectors as per CPKC standards and goals using CPKC tools and departmental processes
  • Support HBD and AEI Detector reliability and integrity of these devices and the data sent into CPKC’s back-office Equipment Health Management System (EHMS) and AEI application systems
  • Deliver HBD and AEI Detectors as per the target design and project objectives for each individual site as per CPKC’s construction and maintenance standards
  • Design and deliver communications solutions for detector sites and work with the Network Services team to maintain technology standards
  • Participate in security plan development and goals setting for continuous improvement of all detectors and system dataflows
  • Manage HVAC annual maintenance programs with CPKC vendors
  • Build and maintain inter-departmental relationships and communication

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Electronics, Engineering, Computing, or other technical degree is required
  • 3-7 years of field experience and/or experience with detectors in the railway industry. Other related experience may be considered
  • A strong general understanding of electronics and electronic systems is beneficial
  • Experience with networking technologies, TCP/IP, and communications concepts and technologies is valued
  • Experience with Data analytics and coordinating project delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill with attention to detail and process-oriented

Management Conductor Program:
