PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Analyst or Specialist, Treasury will be a key contributor to the Canadian Pacific treasury team, providing analytical support for corporate finance decisions and rating agency deliverables, while playing a key role in dayto-day forecasting and cash management activities. The successful candidate will assist in executing FX, commercial paper and money market investment trades, managing banking services, monitoring bank fees and interest, and will work closely with other members of the CP finance team to support CP’s business needs.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Execute day to day cash management activities including cash forecasting, positioning and payments;
  • Forecast corporate liquidity in coordination with planning team;
  • Execute FX, commercial paper and money market investment trades;
  • Maintain and monitor third party debt and credit facilities;
  • Support capital allocation decisions including dividend and share repurchase programs;
  • Maintain rating agency models and presentation materials;
  • Build, develop and maintain financial models in excel;
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables with speed and precision;
  • Drive process improvements to control costs, optimize assets, and reduce risk;
  • Ensure strict compliance with SOX controls;

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field;
  • Working towards or completion of MBA, CFA or CPA program an asset;
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience;
  • Excellent excel and financial modelling skills;
  • Knowledge of basic derivative instruments (interest rate and cross-currency swaps, FX forwards);
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills;
  • Self-motivated, self-starter who can work independently and drive results with limited oversight;
