PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Manager Crew Management will focus on providing excellent service, maintaining high standards and establishing and maintaining effective policies and procedures to deliver critical services to our internal customers. The manager will lead a team of diverse SMEs, anticipate business needs, and align to the company's foundations, core values and objectives. This position draws on knowledge from software development, business analysis, vendor management and leading teams.

The team is responsible for all crew management applications including crew pools, crew calling, crew information, time entry, qualifications, regulatory requirements, crew transportation and accommodations.  They support these as functional analysists working with internal technical teams as well as vendor partners.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and execute strategic vision for team and implement systems, procedures and governance
  • Establish work priorities, provide direction, coaching, feedback and support of development goals and targets to individuals.
  • Create tactical plans to drive business goals.
  • Develop the team’s skills in core functions and applications.
  • Create and Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendor account managers.
  • Perform detailed data analysis, to support decisions on process and system enhancements.
  • Look for potential impacts to service, quality and finances.
  • Resolve issues and implement best practices.
  • Gather and Monitor quality team metrics.
  • Create business documentation for executives
  • Management and leadership skills including coaching, motivating, team building, change management, and process creation;
  • Possess strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong logical skills;
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; 
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to build positive, productive business relationships; 
  • Self-motivated, with strong organization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment;
  • Cooperative, collaborative management style;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication Skills.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • University Degree preferred but experience will also be considered
  • 3+ yrs related experience leading a team;
  • Software Development Lifecycle Expertise;
  • Experience in working with structured governance process

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
