The North American Benefits team is looking for an individual to provide benefit program coordination and support for all employees. 

Specifically, supporting the resolution and triage/escalation of high volume employee inquiries by providing an exceptional level of customer service with a strong knowledge of the various benefit plan programs at CP. This includes administrative support for Non-Union Flex benefits, Union benefit plans, Retiree benefits and Disability benefits programs. This role will be accountable for benefits plan administration, billing and invoicing procedures, data analysis and supporting an excellent employee experience.



  • Manage Canadian benefits e-mail inbox and provide back up support for US benefits inbox to coordinate the triaging of benefits issues, escalations, and grievances brought forward by employees/managers or escalated from HR Business Partners, Employee Services, Pension  Services, Labour Relations, Union Representatives, etc.
  • Provide an exceptional level of customer service support to employees in both Canada and the US, to ensure accurate information and understanding of benefit programs
  • Provide support and expertise to resolve general employee issues and inquires as it relates to both the Canadian and U.S benefit programs, including Short and Long Term Disability
  • Ability to interpret and understand collective agreements and benefit plan policies and contracts for the purpose of investigating and resolving issues
  • Collaborates with benefit providers to investigate and resolve benefit related issues
  • Support annual re-enrollment activities and the implementation of plan design changes in Canada and the US to ensure accuracy and excellent employee experience, including but not limited to, creating communication collateral, supporting system testing and audits
  • Ensure all employee benefit plans are administered in accordance with plan documents, contracts, and collective agreements  
  • Maintain, monitor, approve and audit disability plans payments and benefits invoices
  • Conducts regular audits of interfaces to ensure that the programs are working as expected
  • Maintain detailed process documents to ensure up to date documentation of current processes and procedures     
  • Provide adhoc data analysis as required to support plan audits and scorecard reporting
  • Support Wellness program strategy by sourcing, creating and maintaining Employee Health and Wellness content and posting on external and internal Wellness pages
  • Manage Employee Health and Wellness e-mail inbox
  • Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information



  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or other relevant fields, an asset
  • GBA, CMS, RPA and/or CEBS Designation, an asset  
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in HR, Canadian Benefits, or related role would be an asset
  • US Benefits experience considered an asset
  • Experience in working with HRIS systems, specifically SAP, Spinifex would be an asset
  • Moderate to Advanced skill in MS Office – Excel, PowerPoint  
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills   
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills  
  • A demonstrable drive to understand and solve complex problems  
  • Solution focused – enjoys the challenge of problem solving  
  • Attention to detail and respect for deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and fluctuating workloads

Management Conductor Program:   Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the
