PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Our mission is to collaborate with the business to drive value by enabling new transformation capabilities and optimizing the current application of technology supporting business process.  As the Business Transformation Partner (Information Services), you will act as a strategic thinking partner to a key area of our railway business – aligning technology and process optimization priorities with CP strategic goals. Working with senior leaders across the organization, you will facilitate process understanding and improvement within our Information Services practices while helping develop digital transformation roadmaps and strategies

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABLES

  • Use your Information Services knowledge and expertise to elicit business needs, facilitate improvements, and act on opportunities across all Information Services teams
  • Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, earn trust, build credibility becoming a trusted advisor for the Information Services organization
  • Roadmap development – work with senior business leaders and Enterprise/Solution Architects to understand business and integration strategies then identify, elaborate and plan future integration and transformation programs and initiatives
  • Roadmap program/project delivery – Provide business support throughout execution of projects protecting business requirements and value delivered
  • Facilitate process improvement through the identification of technology simplification, standardization, and automation processes/solutions
  • Business case development – work with senior business leaders, portfolio management, Enterprise Architecture, and IS delivery teams to develop business cases and funding requests supporting the roadmap
  • Lead discussions across the organization to optimize/influence decision making, and drive value
  • Demonstrate CP’s leadership competencies
  • Supports business transformation and technology integration efforts within the Information Services team. 
  • Collaborate with IS to manage pipeline of demand for technology within IS
  • Facilitate business process improvement, develop target processes, elicit business requirements, and drive business transformational change of CP’s information services practices
  • This role will be accountable for both internal and external customer communication
  • This role will be responsible for influencing at different levels of the CP organization (managers, directors and above) on transformational activities and technologies
  • This role will also be accountable for recommending technology enhancements and process optimization strategies
  • This role will be accountable for facilitation value stream workshops
  • Mapping and understanding current processes and providing simpler, more standardized approach of solving the businesses pain points with the appropriate technology.
  • Being on the cusp of technology and application changes. Understanding what enhancements and advancements are being made in the technology space to help support innovation at CP. Additionally, knowledge of comparing different product suites to manage the business.
  • Gather, report the value of roadmap initiatives and gaining sign off from GM, AVP or above.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field required;
  • 8+ years experience in variety of Information Services roles
  • Experience developing strategic plans, roadmaps and business cases
  • High business IQ and ability to articulate the value of different strategies and programs
  • Experience using design thinking methodologies to generate innovation is an asset
  • 2+ years’ experience in business transformation or business relationship management would be an asset  
  • Experience and ability to work with Senior Leadership levels in the organization
  • Applied understanding of data science 
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience is an asset
  • Highly analytical with experience in process mapping and business analysis
  • Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive, and inspiring
  • Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure; expresses confidences in ability to succeed; keeps an optimistic attitude even when things are not going well

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
