PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Our mission is to deliver value to CP’s business units and enable new transformative capabilities.  As the Business Partner, Transformation, you will act as a strategic thinking partner to a key area of our railway business – aligning technology, process optimization priorities with CP strategic goals.

The Business Partner, Transformation (Finance) will focus on the Enterprise business processes that encompass the Record-to-Report financial processes.  You will demonstrate financial and technical expertise, identify gaps between current and best practices, build strong and trusting relationships, and serve as a thought leader for the application of SAP ERP tools.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Process Mapping & Facilitation – develop an integrated business architecture through process flow mapping, key measures, and process optimization opportunities;
  • Realize process improvements through simplification, standardization, and automation processes/solutions.  Deconstruct key business problems to identify value opportunities and solutions;
  • Roadmap development – work with senior business leaders and Enterprise/Solution Architects to identify, elaborate and plan future  transformation programs and initiatives.  Fit these plans into our corporate transformation roadmap;
  • Roadmap program delivery – lead innovation and manage change to ensure that strategic programs, solution enhancements realize their value;
  • Build and maintain partnerships within the business, earn trust, build credibility and thereby forming strong relationships with the business stakeholders;
  • Lead discussions across the organization to optimize/influence decision making, and drive value;
  • Demonstrate CP’s leadership competencies;

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field required
  • 12+ years of experience in Business Transformation, SAP ERP / Central Finance
  • Experience in Finance advisory, developing strategic plans and roadmaps
  • High business IQ and ability to articulate the value of different strategies & programs
  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Experience using Design Thinking methodologies to generate innovation is an asset
  • Highly analytical with experience in process mapping and business analysis
  • Applied understanding of data science and statistical methods
  • Experience and ability to work with Senior Leadership levels in the organization
  • Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive and inspiring
  • Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure; expresses confidences in ability to succeed; keeps an optimistic attitude even when things are not going well

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
