PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a Coordinator, Training Design in the HR – Learning & Development team you will support all CP Training needs in the design, production, revision and tracking of training documents and related materials to meet Canadian Pacific and federal regulatory standards in both Canada and the United States of America.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable to produce, revise, upload, troubleshoot and prepare a variety of training materials, including print, graphic/information design, video post-production, web services and Learning publication for CP Employees;
  • Support of technology–based learning such as eLearning and videos;
  • Define, negotiate, manage, and communicate project schedules and status, while balancing priorities on multiple projects and administrative duties simultaneously;
  • Define, implement, and maintain quality standards on all project deliverables;
  • Manage distribution of products and services for the Training Delivery Team;
  • Evaluate and recommend formats for training materials, and services to ensure effective communication and delivery;
  • Manage French translation process for all required Technical Training documents;
  • Maintain and protect sensitive and confidential material and information;
  • Manage the electronic document management system, which tracks the production and version history of training material;
  • Support Technical Training Delivery Group with advice on appropriate technology and applications;
  • Support Leadership development and training programs;
  • Support all other groups requiring secondary training at CP;
  • Identify, recommend, and apply appropriate software best suited for projects;
  • Support Learning Management System (LMS) based administrative duties, such as working on training report/regulatory reporting requests, online course troubleshooting/issues and/or general inquiry or help with courseware;
  • Liaison between our print vendor and the Technical Training Delivery Group;
  • Prepare, print and organize various materials for CP’s onboarding program, ensuring HR Business Partners are set up for successful facilitation. Booking of rooms and ordering of food for onboarding sessions as required;
  • Prepare, print and organize Coaching Capabilities Graduate packages;
  • Prepare, print and ship out Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, and other various certificates out on a Monthly Run;
  • Fulfill TDG Sticker Package requests for various operational groups across our network;
  • Take stock and order office supplies for the Learning and Development Team.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Diploma or degree in Information Design or related Communication/Project Management field is an asset;
  • Ability to interpret and translate concepts into a visual representation for the intended audiences or delivery method;
  • Knowledge of or experience with e-Learning design, development, and technology;
  • Thorough understanding of printing and publication practices and requirements, including an in depth knowledge of publication software and file formats;
  • Ability to work with various file formats and computer applications and using the appropriate one for the project;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, computer and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail;
  • Good negotiating and problem solving skills;
  • Very strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs; especially Word focused document creation and design as well as Excel capabilities;
  • Previous project management experience is an asset;
  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Writer, bonus: Premiere Pro and/or After Effects);
  • Articulate Storyline or other rapid authoring software;
  • Learning Management Systems (SuccessFactors).
  • Internet/Web Languages (HTML, Javascript, CSS, etc).

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
