PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Responsible for in-depth knowledge in one or more domain, where the knowledge will be applied across multiple business solutions:
  • Technology - Definition and communication of the Target Technology and Infrastructure Architecture Blueprint. The Target Technology and Infrastructure Architecture Blueprint includes Technology Principles, Technology and Infrastructure Strategy, Technology Strategy, Technology Standards, Technology Reference Models, Technology and Infrastructure Modeling Guidelines etc.
  • Processes - Definition and communication of the Target Business Services and the Target Process Architecture Blueprint. The Target Process Architecture Blueprint includes Business Process Principles, Business process Strategy, Business Process Standards, Business Process Reference Models, Process Patterns, Business Process Modeling Guidelines etc.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create and maintain a domain specific architecture including relevant technologies, standards, information usage, roadmap and patterns.
  • Provide standards and prescriptive guidance to the solution architects and IT project managers when needed to ensure that the future roadmap unfolds as envisioned.
  • Ensure that all domain architectures constructed and / or acquired comply with IS architectural standards and directions.
  • Influence all I&O projects so that deliverables support the stated roadmap and move us towards the desired end state.
  • Ensure that all IS project solutions are consistent with their defined domain(s).
  • For a specific domain, understands solution implications for our projects, and recommends appropriate solutions or exceptions that balance business risk with the enterprise architecture target state.
  • Promote technology usage and domain-specific awareness within the projects, IS department and architecture practices.
  • Identify domain-specific Multi-Year Plan projects for the Technology and Process Domains.
  • Monitor and react to the ever changing IT industry and articulate how these advances / changes impact the desired future state architecture.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in at least two IS disciplines in a client/server or service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, including technical architecture, network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, security, or operations with a least 2 to 5 years direct architectural experience.
  • Formal training in the area of architectural design and common industry frameworks (TOGAF, DODAF, EACOE, ZIF, etc.)
  • Analytical and contextualization skills (e.g., ability to "connect the dots")
  • Experience in architectural design and common industry frameworks (TOGAF, DODAF, EACOE, ZIF, etc.)
  • Maintaining, and progressing, a 2 to 3 year vision for assigned architectural domain(s) in a corporation that tends to consider IS investments as annual expenditures.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI etc.) – AWS CSA or other certification preferred.
  • Estimate and articulate the impact of IT domain target architecture alternatives – both financial and nonfinancial.
  • Ability to lead change successfully and implement best practices.
  • Professional presentation and demeanour as well as good customer liaison skills.
  • Communication and influencing ability at working levels.
