To manage the operation of the Engineering Planroom which is the central location to access information regarding bridges, buildings, track, and yards and to provide technical support as well as reproduction and scanning services to other functional groups across all service areas and outside consultants.


To oversee the development and implementation of the document management system called CP Docs which will facilitate the on-line access of this information in digital format to employees and third party contractors via the internet/intranet.


  • Manages the drawing management system (CP Docs) for Engineering Services. Designs the hierarchy, security, permissions and access for end users. Identifies and registers all plans, drawings and sketches. Manages the strategy of incorporation of archival data, participates in CP Docs design sessions, designs, creates and modifies CP Docs importer programs ensuring efficient transfer of digital and test information;
  • Manages the integration of plans and documents into CP systems from regional and short line railways as required to support strategic changes in the network operated by CP;
  • Manages the storage of 1,000,000+ legal documents in various formats and oversees the conversion of these documents into digital format;
  • Manages the operation of 3 high-end digital scanners and 1 system plotter. Maintains plan room supply inventory and arranges for servicing and maintenance contracts for this equipment;
  • Provides user support for and promotes user awareness of CP Docs within CP including the preparation of customized training manuals to end-users;
  • Provides timely and responsive service to customer requests for plan and document information including design and creation of custom maps depicting department specific data.



  • Technical college diploma with comprehensive training in CP Docs (ECM – Enterprise Content Management);
  • Thorough knowledge of graphic reproduction and associated graphic programs;
  • Minimum of five (5) years technical experience in an Engineering office;

Management Conductor Program:
