PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The IS team provides data warehousing capabilities for all reporting and analytics within CP. This data comprises of real-time sensor data, transactional data, master data, and aggregated data. The Data Services team is responsible for supporting, designing, and developing the ETL/ELT workflows and related data warehouses that provide this data to the rest of the BI group, the IS team, and all reporting and analytics end-users at CP.
This position will provide hands-on functional manager support for the Data Services team. .
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for leading a team with the below functions:
- Design a scalable data infrastructure that offers a best-in-class experience for internal stakeholders including consistent extraction of value from the data
- Drive data ingestion and processing in innovative ways that inform strategic priorities and decision-making across the organization
- Data integration using ETL tools.
- Data replication and change data capture.
- Maintaining and supporting the application and related data processes in a production environment.
- Design and develop ETL workflows following standards set by and for the team, including promotion standards, naming standards, data flow standards, documentation standards, and code repository standards.
- Collaborates closely with project teams, including Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Project Managers, Application Developers, and BI Developers.
- Collaborates closely with operational teams, including DBAs, Service Operations Center, BI developers, and SAP developers.
- Capacity planning for the Data Services team to manage resources across sustainment and capital projects
- Identify key areas for process improvement by using scheduling, incident, and problem management tools, including ServiceNow and Control-M scheduling.
- Lead the team for incident resolution process including but not limited to:
- Immediate incident resolution of data problems, performance problems, and integration problems.
- Incident follow-up with root cause analysis
- Incident change release and dev/acceptance reconciliation
- Recommends and influences the team on middleware improvements and understands the ETL landscape.
- Manage escalations for the ETL team for 24/7 on-call support.
- Understands the importance of secure data and maintains the confidentiality of CP data.
- Understands the importance of quality data management methods to reduce duplication, maintain data integrity, and apply records management processes (as appropriate).
- Maintains an awareness of upcoming trends in data management and ETL.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years as a functional manager or equivalent experience
- Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Pays high attention to detail
- Able to lead and grasp problems to support incident resolution and brainstorming for technical requirements
- Adaptable and flexible to a fast-paced work environment and shifting priorities and responsibilities
- Ability to provide 24/7 support while on-call
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data warehouse architectures and ETL processes
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases and query authoring (SQL), as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
- Recent experience in leading teams with multiple database systems and patterns.
- Leading the design and development of system integration using APIs, MQ, FTP, and other integration software.
