PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As the Campus Grounds Maintenance and Operation Manager, you will oversee the Project Management, maintenance and operations of the E.H.H. Campus. The successful candidate will manage and deliver capital projects, be responsible for the maintenance of yard utilities, campus grounds and other asset. Manage campus service vendors, track and update budgets and schedules throughout the course of a project or quarter to ensure that it is completed on time and within budgets established and approved.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Administer contracts, including safety orientation, field inspection and supervision of contract work on various projects for the assigned region;
  • Coordinate work activities with internal and external departments and customers to ensure safe, cost-effective execution of projects and programmed maintenance work;
  • Accountable for utility infrastructure maintenance to ensure business continuity;
  • Design and Manage utility infrastructure projects on a day to day basis to ensure completion within schedule and budget;
  • Ensure any related environmental issues are dealt with according to company mandated policies and local codes, as they relate to projects;
  • Prepare budget requirements for multi-year planning;
  • Responsible for all gas, water, sanitary management projects in determining feasibility and project execution;
  • Oversee all assigned facilities construction project from conception to delivery;
  • Responsible for all Campus utility, landscaping maintenance and snow clearing programs;
  • Review each project in-depth to schedule tasks, subcontractors, tools, equipment, and materials deliveries;
  • Review work progress on a daily basis, manage the costs and the behaviors of the site personnel under their charge;
  • Review the performance of contractors to verify that quality, cost and schedule objectives are maintained;
  • Prepare and review project cost estimates for appropriation of funds relating to facilities;
  • Negotiate with the construction manager, contractors, suppliers and consultants to ensure the Company derives maximum benefits from its expenditures;
  • Ensure that CP safety requirements are adhered to on all sites.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a minimum of a High School diploma or mechanical trade certification;
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisor experience with relevant mechanical and maintenance direct reports;
  • Strong knowledge of various construction disciplines, project management processes and financial management, as well as relevant knowledge of codes, contract law and legislation related to project work;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Project, Excel, SAP, Revit and AutoCAD);
  • Experience leading or considerably contributing to the preparation of RFP’s, tenders and tender awards;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment; prioritizing multiple demands on time sensitive projects;
  • Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment;
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills;
  • Strong sense of urgency and self- initiative to meet deadlines;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of management within the company.

Management Conductor Program:
