PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Are you ready to dive into the dynamic world of property tax and make a real impact? This summer, step into a fast-paced role where you'll play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely property tax payments across our portfolio. As a vital member of the Property Tax team, you'll tackle technical challenges, manage and verify assessments, bills, and recharges, and maintain critical data in our Land Tax Payment System. You'll also collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure precision and reduce CPKC’s property tax exposure. If you're detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and eager to learn, this is your chance to gain hands-on experience in a high-impact environment.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Coordinate and process property tax bills across Canada, ensuring timely payments and minimizing penalties.
- Review assessment rolls, calculate rates and adjustment factors, and verify property classifications under applicable regulations.
- Assist with appeals and investigate discrepancies through communication with internal teams and tax authorities.
- Support financial reporting by compiling property tax data and maintaining organized records.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as scanning documents and handling mail
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Current enrollment in college diploma or undergraduate degree (general BA or business-related program) or equivalent program.
- Demonstrated interest in the property tax space is an asset – whether through part-time experience, academic focus, or self-directed learning.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
