PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Senior Analyst Finance (internally called Specialist Finance Systems & Reporting) supports finance systems and master data governance activities. The ideal candidate is a Finance professional experienced in supporting SAP ECC & BPC processes who wants a more systems focused role. This position is committed to delivering actionable business insights on CPKC’s performance by driving improvements in processes and reports. The successful candidate will focus on sustaining data integrity including financial master data, functionality and efficiency of those systems as well as system processes and data loads for key systems and models. This role also delivers multi-functional system related improvements for systems and reports. The Specialist reports to the Manager, Finance Systems and Reporting as part of the Finance Department.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Drives finance systems processes in SAP ECC & BPC to support monthly & annual activities including ETL activities, maintaining and building specific reporting templates, master data maintenance, etc.
  • Drives multi-functional initiatives with Finance business partners and Information Services to improve data accuracy for analysis, insights, and identify root cause for system errors and or load failures
  • Provides system related advisory and troubleshooting support and develops creative solutions for implementation including analysis of business requirements
  • Correlates data sources to provide fit-for-purpose reporting and analytics, including requirements capturing, prototyping, user validation, and sustainment
  • Contributes to the department's program to ensure Finance users can optimally and efficiently use the various systems available to Finance, including providing guidance, workshops and crafting training content
  • Leads Finance systems initiatives supporting process change for further alignment and future system migrations
  • The specialist embodies a proactive mindset with a can-do attitude by driving conversations, optimizing processes, identifying gaps, and sharing knowledge through educational sessions with leaders and peer

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Computer Science
  • Minimum 3 years of supporting accounting systems including, month end close cycles, project transformations, data flows, master data management
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, formatting, macros, modelling)
  • Demonstrable experience or use of systems such as Power BI, Microsoft Analyzer, SAP ECC, S4 HANA, BPC, Finance Dashboards, etc.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
