PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Are you ready to lead, inspire excellence, and drive impactful changes within our organization? As the Senior Manager of Track Standards, you will oversee the development and communication of track standards, specifications, work methods, and requirements for track and maintenance-of-way activities. Your focus will be on ensuring safety, efficiency, and sound engineering practices, while meeting CPKC’s business objectives, risk management strategies, and regulatory requirements across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Direct development, evaluation and continuous improvement of track products, and material standards to maximize safety, cost effectiveness, and operational efficiency for use in the various service environments across CPKC
  • Responsible for development and communication to the field of maintenance of way rules, policies, requirements, and instructions and standard practice circulars
  • Oversee development of trackwork designs and plans to support track maintenance and construction projects system wide
  • Hold signatory authority in accordance with the Corporate Delegation of Management Authority (DOMA)
  • Exercise personnel management authority as defined by the Human Resources Authority Matrix
  • Serve as a CPKC representative and spokesperson for industry cooperation and regulatory authorities on track issues
  • Monitor the implementation of track and Maintenance of Way (MOW) standards across all regions
  • Manage standards, specifications, risk analysis, and value engineering associated with CPKC’s procurement of track-related products
  • Safety Management System (SMS) compliance on standards related to track
  • Subject matter expert (SME) witness for litigation involving track issues

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 10 years track maintenance field experience in North America and/or an Engineering Degree (Exception for non-university graduates provided sufficient experience and demonstrated performance in railroad engineering)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams
  • Strong communicator with the ability to leverage technical skills to oversee compliance with CPKC policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities and ensure delivery of key performance metrics during emergency and non-emergency operations

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
