PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This Senior role in the Business Intelligence & Analytics team, is in support of operational, commercial and leadership teams with insights gained from analyzing company data; analyzing large datasets to find opportunities for product and process optimization; and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. Additionally, driving business results with data-based insights; and working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.

 

The role also involves analytics product management and road mapping, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Ops, Natural Language Processing (NLP), data modeling and integrations, and insight generation.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leveraging the analytics work by data science specialists applying data science and data mining techniques to help solve key strategic business challenges;
  • Working with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions;
  • Lead the on-going curation, maintenance, and integration of existing and new data within data analytics, management and governance processes;
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies;
  • Work with application teams to incorporate deployed models, apply modifications and automate model training, based on business feedback;
  • Design, implement, and manage the data science landscape including data science tools, infrastructure, and integration with other CP systems;
  • Interpret findings, clearly communicate results, and make recommendations to stakeholders;
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques;
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets;
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes;
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy;
  • Lead the creation of an analytics culture based in sound data science principles backed by a robust big data architecture;
  • Planning and implementing the overall advanced analytics and business intelligence strategy;
  • Identifying opportunities to develop forecasts, statistical models, and data-driven analyses;
  • Working with business owners to identify information needs and lead opportunities to optimize the business through analytics and statistical modeling;
  • Working with other IS teams to deliver a stable and highly available reporting platform;
  • Overseeing advanced analytics and business intelligence projects;
  • Lead the development and sustainment of reporting and analytical tools.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • M.S./Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or other related quantitative fields or disciplines;
  • 5-10 years proven of corporate experience in the field of data science;
  • Must possess a strong data intuition; deep knowledge in data modeling, statistical inference, machine learning, and other quantitative approaches; causal analysis is a plus;
  • Experience with manipulating large scale datasets and operating on cloud data platforms. Proficiency in Python, R, or other programming languages. Familiarity with SQL and ETL scripts;
  • Understanding of the different data storage/access models (transactional, data staging, operational data store, data warehouse, data mart, data federation) and choose the model(s) appropriate for the client;
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling techniques for conceptual, logical and physical data models;
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling normalized data structures and manipulating data;
  • Experience with and awareness of current data science tools and platforms including Cloud and On-premise deployment patterns;
  • Understanding of the characteristics of various data types such as image analytics, spatial data, and relational data;
  • Ability to define business requirements;
  • Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries and performance tuning with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle Sybase, DB2, HANA);
  • Able to work in a fast-paced dynamic team-oriented environment with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work as interface between IT departments and any level of the organization;
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), organizational, and trouble-shooting skills.
