PURPOSE OF THE POSITION 

The Corporate Reporting Specialist prepares high quality tax and entity financial reporting documents, in  compliance with requirements, maintains stakeholder relationship with Taxation, and ensures the company’s balance sheet accounting reconciliation policy and procedures are followed. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Account for taxes for certain CP entities, analyze related accounts, coordinate intercompany transfer  pricing adjustments, and prepare summary financial information used by the tax group for provision calculation; 
  • Prepare US GAAP-compliant financial statements needed by internal stakeholders on a recurring basis,  including coordination with the multiple internal stakeholders that provide information into the reporting process; 
  • Prepare account reconciliations for income taxes and selected entities; 
  • Prepare income taxes disclosure in the quarterly and annual external reporting document; 
  • Assess reporting implications of significant financial transactions and draft related disclosures;  
  • Identify, analyze and reconcile inconsistent information in order to recommend adjustments where necessary
  • Identify and analyze possible improvements to the reporting process, with a particular focus to maintenance of entity reporting ledger and consolidation tool used in financial statement preparation, and implement selected solutions; 
  • Monitor the account reconciliation process and ensure that balance sheet account reconciliation policy and procedures are followed; 
  • Prepare and present quarterly reconciliation review package and compliance report for management review; 
  • Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Tax or securities regulation, as applicable; 
  • Ensure accounting and reporting process complies with applicable internal control (SOX) requirements; 
  • Address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS  

  • Accounting Designation (CPA; CPA, CA); 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP requirements, desirable; 
  • ERP/SAP expertise (desirable); 
  • Application Expertise (desirable): BPC, Excel, Workiva, Blackline; 
  • Process Management Skills; 
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy; 
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment; 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Management Conductor Program:
