Canadian Pacific’s Internal Audit department is seeking an experienced data analyst to join our team. The Specialist Data Analytics is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to deliver Internal Audit’s data analytics roadmap. The successful candidate will work closely with the Internal Audit team and multiple stakeholders to provide analytics insight on multiple audit engagements and build-out our continuous assurance program. This role will report to the Advisor Data Analytics.



The successful candidate will perform the following activities:

  • Creatively work with multiple tools to manage and analyze large volumes of data from multiple sources to develop valuable insights;
  • Develop dynamic and impactful reports and presentations using visualization tools;
  • Work with Internal Audit leadership to consistently advance our continuous assurance program;
  • Provide analytics support during planning, execution and reporting phases of audit engagements;
  • Take responsibility for managing certain audit engagements that have a significant data component;
  • Support the development and maintenance of Internal Audit’s risk monitoring dashboards;
  • Offer coaching to progressively improve data literacy of the broader audit team;
  • Maintain and develop competencies in advanced analytics, process automation and artificial intelligence;
  • Maintain objectivity and independence while fostering positive and professional relationships with Management;
  • Develop knowledge of the railroad and industry/CP specific processes and technologies.




  • University degree in Business, Computer Science or related field;
  • Relevant certificates or current professional accreditation(s) such as Certified Analytics Professional;
  • At least 5 years of combined analytics, data management and/or data science experience;
  • Solid understanding of a combination of ETL and data visualization tools such as Alteryx, SQL, ACL, Tableau, Power BI;
  • Experience with advanced scripting languages such as Python and R;
  • Established analytical, investigative, problem-solving and root cause identification skills;
  • Experience with SAP core modules and underlying table structures is an asset;
  • Work experience in an audit function is an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities with technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Must be both team oriented and able to work independently with limited supervision.

Management Conductor Program:
