Specialist, Locomotive Maintenance

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Specialist, Locomotive Maintenance work alongside the maintenance scheduling and planning team managing the fleet, driving Bad Order locomotives to shops and create/adjust/validate maintenance schedules with a focus on regulatory compliance. This is a six month temporary position.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Have a clear understanding of rules and regulations, Transport Canada (TC), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Association of American Railroads (AAR) practices and standards, Mechanical Policies and Maintenance (DL’s) Ensure regulatory compliance is adhered to
  • Ensure the Locomotive Maintenance planning and scheduling processes are kept up to date
  • Ensure the Locomotive failures are processed expeditiously
  • Work with internal and external partners to improve fluidity and achieve Operating Plan
  • Ensure maintenance strategy and alignment with task lists for planning and scheduling work into maintenance locations. Asset management functions

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency
  • 5 years’ experience of railroad operations with strong background with locomotives
  •  Strong understanding of SAP, Locomotive Maintenance User Interface and Locomotive Management Planning and railroad network
  • Strong communication skills (provide clear and concise instructions/directions)
  • Available to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
  • Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft suite programs, Excel, Word, Power Point, able to create, modify, and update reports for presentation to senior management

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
