PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Specialist, Mechanical Performance Reporting & Metrics role monitors and reports on locomotive reliability and maintenance performance. The role supports the business by creating automated reports and dashboards and by analyzing data to identify issues and opportunities.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Produce and automate weekly, monthly, and quarterly locomotive performance scorecards and executive dashboards
  • Analyze locomotive reliability, defects, maintenance performance, cycle time, labor hours, and service interruptions
  • Identify trends, repeat issues, and noncompliance; escalate findings and recommend corrective actions
  • Extract, manage, and validate locomotive maintenance data from SAP and related systems
  • Improve data quality, logic, and data sources in SAP in partnership with Mechanical and IS teams
  • Lead performance review discussions with locomotive shop leadership and stakeholders
  • Develop automated reporting, analytical models, and decisionsupport tools using modern analytics technologies
  • Support locomotive planning, optimization, and productivity improvements through automation and analytics
  • Prepare timely summary reports and status updates for senior leadership and key programs
  • Provide SAP/LMUI support, troubleshooting, training, and ongoing maintenance of locomotive datasets

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency; Post secondary degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with reliability analysis and performance analytics
  • Solid working knowledge of Power BI
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience using SAP
  • Knowledge of locomotive equipment or similar heavyduty machinery is an asset

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
