PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Specialist/ Analyst, Design System Alignment works reports to the Manager, System Alignment. The position  is responsible for maintaining data tables and analyzing data relationships within VISTA (Value Added Integrated Shipment Tracking Application).  

 

You will be responsible for data input and intuitive management of all SD systems that support the Integrated Operating Plan and ongoing changes required. Systems include MultiRail EE, MultiRail FE, Databridge, VISTA Mainframe, Train Profile Editor, ITS, CDI, TNSCHED, Project systems support and RED process.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:         

  • Work with service design on changes to the rail network, blocking plan and train plan, assist in communicating changes to the operating plan.
  • Maintain VISTA tables and compile statistics on: queue volumes for class alerts; classification results; schedule alerts and resolution performance. 
  • Review interface and exception reports. Investigate and resolve any interface issues between VISTA, MultiRail and the Subject Area Data Bases to ensure integrity in the data fed to VISTA. Update VISTA tables as required.
  • Manage queues for Schedule Alerts (i.e. Trip Plan Exceptions), ensure a high level of integrity in VISTA trip plans, estimated time of arrival (ETA) and monitoring.
  • Analyze alerts, investigate root causes, communicate findings and provide recommendations.
  • Identify areas for cost and efficiency improvement related to Vista and Vista trip plan. Support the implementation of code changes by acting as the Vista Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing business requirements, user acceptance testing (UAT) and post implementation monitoring.
  • Support the sustainment of vista and vista trip plan as well as the operating plan data export process by completing user acceptance testing for projects including database and operating system upgrades.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Computer Systems or equivalent CP Systems or IT experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of CP’s Network, CP operations/transportation, service design and general train design is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office especially with excel and power point is an asset.
  • Experience with CP Systems: MultiRail; ITS; TYES; NEXUS; ORDER ENTRY; PDAE and CP Dashboards is an asset.
  • Strong written and analytic skills with particular attention to detail are required.
  • Proven social process skills and ability to effectively build relationship.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead discussions and influence individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and comfortable delivering presentations to groups.
  • Position may be required to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) to meet deliverables and address off hour emergent requirements.

Management Conductor Program:
