Specialist Commodity Tax
Reporting to the Manager, Commodity Tax, the Specialist Tax will be responsible for reviewing transactions and processes to minimize commodity tax costs and risks, including identifying and implementing tax saving and minimization strategies. You will also prepare and file complex Canadian sales tax returns, assist in managing government commodity tax audits to ensure the validity of audit assessments, prepare recommendations regarding the corrective course of action and additional general tax system queries from the business units.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identifying, preparing, filing, and supporting commodity tax recoveries and other adjustments
- Preparing complex commodity tax returns and facilitating related payments within the prescribed time period to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
- Helping to coordinate government commodity tax audits to complete them efficiently and minimize audit assessments, including collaborating with business units and responding to audit queries with complete and timely responses
- Responding to routine commodity tax queries from business units
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, information technology, or equivalent diploma/certificate and work experience
- A minimum of 2+ years of commodity tax experience or SAP experience
- Candidates with less experience will be considered for an Analyst, Commodity Tax and we encourage you to apply
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Able to prioritize workload under tight and firm deadlines

Management Conductor Program:
