*Please note this position will be based out of Calgary, AB. Depending on the successful candidate, consideration will be given to individuals located in Winnipeg, MB as well. Applications will be accepted from both locations.



As a member in the Innovation and Transformation team, the Specialist – Data Insights will be accountable for distilling quantitative and qualitative data to communicate fact-based insights and compelling stories to stakeholders. You will also interview data for logic, accuracy and help define and achieve our data-agenda and roadmap.



  • Analyze data and information to provide insight/recommendation for asset behavior patterns across various touchpoints;
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making;
  • Work with IS teams to clean and synthesize large amounts of data from various sources, develop automated solutions for data gathering;
  • Validation and exploratory analysis of collected data;
  • Integrate visual design skills into data analysis, ensuring that data presented are accurate,  actionable, and relevant to stakeholders;
  • Support the development of the strategy and roadmap for data analytics, participate in the design, implementation, and management of new analytics and reporting solutions;
  • Cultivate and develop interactive relationships with Product teams to understand overall business objectives, identify opportunities and understand how digital goals can be maximized;
  • Learn, follow and demonstrate CP’s leadership competencies.



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Mathematics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or Engineering is required;
  • 3 to 5 years’ of related work experience in a data-analytical role - developing, automating, and managing ETL processes using industry standard tools;
  • Experience evaluating metrics to improve data quality;
  • Experience working with data to identify business-building opportunities;
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities with the ability to translate data sets into actionable insights;
  • Statistical analysis and tools used to perform data preparation and analyses;
  • Data-driven decision making skillset;
  • Experience and ability to work with Senior Leadership levels in the organization;
  • Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive and inspiring;
  • Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure; expresses confidences in ability to succeed; keeps an optimistic attitude even when things are not going well.

Management Conductor Program:
