PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Specialist Financial Analysis will consolidate and analyze CPKC’s annual and multi-year financial plans, evaluate variable compensation programs, and prepare ad-hoc financial analysis of strategic initiatives and emergent opportunities. The position will work cross functionally with stakeholders in and out of Finance to provide analytical insights directly to senior management.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Consolidation and delivery of monthly corporate forecast updates and variance analysis to senior management on a specific and predetermined schedule
  • Planning and analysis of variable corporate compensation programs
  • Ad hoc financial analysis of emergent opportunities, investments, and other strategic initiatives including M&A
  • Preparation of financial materials for CPKC’s Board of Directors
  • Continuous improvement of models and methodologies to improve accuracy and timeliness of analysis

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • An undergraduate degree
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance, planning & accounting from a large corporate organization
  • Experience preparing financial models in Excel
  • Knowledge of 3-Statement Financial models
  • Professional designation or advanced degree (CFA, CPA, MBA) is preferred
  • Ability to work full-time on site (no hybrid)

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
