PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Join CPKC’s technology team and play a key role in transforming how HR services are delivered across the organization. The Specialist Functional Analyst, SAP HCM is responsible for supporting, enhancing, and optimizing SAP Human Capital Management solutions, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of Benefits and HR processes. Working with both business and technical stakeholders, this position drives continuous improvement initiatives, implements innovative solutions, and contributes to the success of enterprise-wide programs that support more than just systems, but the people who keep CPKC moving every day.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintain and support CPKC’s SAP HCM Benefits configuration, system enhancements, support pack updates, vendor interfaces, SAP Notes, and transport management
- Manage incidents, service requests, and system changes through CPKC’s issue management processes, following ITIL standards and documenting resolutions, procedures, and business process updates
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements; develop functional specifications; assess application impacts; and communicate proposed solutions and changes to stakeholders
- Provide SAP HCM system support and troubleshooting, collaborate with technical teams including Basis, ABAP, and PO, and independently develop sustainable solutions to prevent recurring issues
- Develop, execute, and coordinate detailed test plans and test scripts using Jira and qTest, ensuring successful implementation and integration across SAP functional areas
- Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to troubleshoot system issues, understand enterprise-wide impacts across the SAP landscape, and deliver results under tight timelines and changing priorities
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience
- Minimum 7 years of SAP HCM Functional Analysis experience with progressive responsibility and deep expertise in SAP HCM modules and business process design
- Extensive experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating business requirements using a variety of techniques, methodologies, models, and documentation standards
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build consensus, manage expectations, and deliver win-win outcomes
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player with an understanding of IT processes, systems, and capabilities; appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives; and knowledge of railway operations and processes considered an asset

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
