PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a key member of the Operations Accounting team, you’ll oversee CPKC’s operational financial results and deliver insights that drive strategic decisions. You’ll collaborate with business leaders and FP&A to ensure data accuracy, analyze trends, and translate financial and operational data into actionable intelligence. Your work will help shape forecasts, budgets, and enhance financial acumen across the organization.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepare and post journal entries; perform account reconciliations and month/year-end close activities.
- Apply critical thinking to analyze financial and operational data to ensure accuracy and alignment with business performance.
- Support quarterly Management Discussion & Analysis and ensure data integrity and SOX compliance.
- Collaborate with business leads and FP&A to identify trends, guide decision-making, and improve forecasting.
- Ability to demonstrate a growth mindset and strong analytical skills to creatively enhance financial data processes, recommend improvements, and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Provide ad hoc analysis for budgets, forecasts, capital projects, and investment evaluations.
- Champion data quality, governance, and cross-functional collaboration while embodying CPKC’s values
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Accounting Designation, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Minimum 4 years experience in accounting or financial analysis
- Previous experience with ERP systems desirable (SAP FI, MM, PM, BPC) and advanced skills with Microsoft Excel

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
