PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

CPKC Information Services (IS) Quality Engineering and Testing team is responsible for ensuring that all Information Services deliverables meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. As a member of IS Quality Engineering you will contribute to the successful delivery of numerous, Custom built  applications throughout all phases of the testing life cycle. 

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and setup of test environments and build test data for test data management
  • Evaluate business software and system requirements to ensure they can be translated into functional and non-functional tests
  • Translate business requirements into detailed test cases and record them using standard test management tools
  • Implement test steps efficiently, record results, and document defects
  • Collaborate with delivery, development, test, and business teams to understand future business state and planned changes
  • Participate in requirements review sessions for completeness and traceability
  • Architect, design, and implement test cases throughout the software lifecycle
  • Tester to deliver testing estimates and progress reports
  • Supply to process improvement in Quality Engineering

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of manual testing experience in custom-based business application
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer (American Society for Quality) or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with networking, databases, and web technologies (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, JSP, ASP, ABAP, .NET, MQ, Oracle, SQL Queries) during test execution
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for waterfall, iterative, agile project methodologies
  • Automated or performance testing experience is an asset
  • Railroad application testing will be highly desirable

Background Investigation:

The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:

  • Reference check
  • Driver’s License verification and/or last 3 years of driving history if a requirement of the position
  • Background checks that may included 7 years of employment history and Social Security number verification

 

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
