PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Supervisor Vehicles, you are responsible for ensuring CPKC’s vehicle fleet, trailers, and Light Mobile Assets are properly registered, licensed, procured, and disposed of in accordance with regulatory, safety, and corporate requirements. The role supports the effective execution of vehicle lifecycle activities, including the acquisition of vehicles, trailers, and Light Mobile Assets such as All Terrain Vehicles, Medium Utility Vehicles, and forklifts. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance, asset accountability, and operational readiness across CPKC’s fleet operations by ensuring assets are appropriately managed, documented, and removed from service at end of life.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Complete the annual registration and licensing process for all CPKC vehicles, trailers, and Light Mobile Assets, including the New Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS), Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP), and International Registration Plan (IRP) registrations, as required for each province and state
- Annual renewal of International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) certificates
- Manage the vehicle and equipment plating process – renewals, replacements and transfers
- Update local Asset Management system data: ownership documents, registrations, plates, safety recalls, traffic violations and disposal information
- Create and issue Purchase Orders for all new vehicles, trailers and Light Mobile Assets
- Supervise and monitor the performance of suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of vehicles, trailers and Light Mobile Assets
- Co-ordinate the disposal of vehicles, trailers and Light Mobile Assets at end of life – cancel plates, retire assets in Asset Management system, dispose of assets to auction vendors etc.
- Process rebate and sale proceed cheques.
- Enter Trip Reports and send quarterly returns to Taxation Department.
- Cross train to learn other vehicle team roles to provide back up as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated capability to apply relevant knowledge and technical skills to monitor adherence to CPKC policies and standards as well as regulatory requirements
- 3 years’ of experience managing vehicle and equipment plating processes in an equipment maintenance environment (railroad or transportation industry experience is an asset)
- Ability to simultaneously manage priorities and ensure delivery of key performance metrics
- Ability to influence peers, cross functional managers and leaders

Management Conductor Program
