PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As part of the Compensation team, you will be instrumental in supporting CPKC’s total rewards philosophy and programs while having the opportunity to learn about the compensation function in a North American business.  This is a unique opportunity to join one of Canada’s largest companies having successfully completed a transformational merger with no shortage of strategic initiatives and opportunities.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the creation and documentation of comprehensive job descriptions by collaborating with stakeholders
  • Evaluate new positions using established methodology to determine the appropriate level within CPKC job architecture. This will include the creation of position titles and maintenance of title integrity and job description library
  • Complete market reviews and benchmarking of positions
  • Acts as a main contact for day-to-day compensation matters, including monitoring and answering queries submitted via email by reviewing and interpreting policies and gathering relevant information 
  • Provide research, analytic and data support for team members as required
  • Support the updating of compensation and relocation program documentation and processes
  • Assists with audits and validations to ensure data integrity with reporting and analyses

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program specializing in human resources, business management or finance
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to use good judgment, demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and employee data
  • Must have strong quantitative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with ability to research and analyze various types of data
  • Good organizational and time management skills in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team and/or independently
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office suite products
