PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the leader overseeing key railway infrastructure, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving bridges, culverts, retaining walls, buildings, and other facilities across a critical territory from Kansas City to Chicago. Leading a team of about 12 unionized employees, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and full compliance with standards, policies, regulations, and operating rules. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Inspect bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
- Heavily involved in the development and execution of multi-year construction and maintenance plans for assigned territory
- Ensure that work is carried out in a manner that aligns with applicable collective bargaining agreements
- Supervise and lead staff to ensure safe and effective work is performed
- Follow and implement budgets for construction and maintenance projects
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Effective communication skills, written/oral and understanding of computer systems
- Previous experience leading a team of direct reports

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
