PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a Diesel Service Attendant, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our locomotives running smoothly. You will move, fuel, clean, test, and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment. This position is perfect for someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys hands-on work, and thrives outdoors.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Safely fuel and sand locomotives, and replenish cab amenities as required
  • Conduct inspections and perform basic repairs on locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment
  • Assess parts for reuse or replacement to ensure operational efficiency
  • Clean and service locomotive cabs, including walls, toilets, windows, and floors
  • Test cab electrical devices, set up cab brakes per train operation requirements, and verify all safety devices
  • Complete crew-to-crew forms accurately and ensure compliance with operational standards
  • Perform additional duties as outlined in the collective agreement

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 1 year experience working around heavy equipment
  • Commercial driver’s license
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
  • Ability to pass the required written examinations, read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English
  • Proven dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines/rules

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

 

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
