PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a key contributor to CPKC’s Engineering team, the Engineering Project Manager provides project support to field engineering managers through the planning, estimating, and coordination of track projects, and creating, monitoring and analyzing capital and maintenance track programs. The successful candidate will prepare requests for materials and contractor support, review and process invoices, complete monthly financial reports of accruals and budget forecasts, and provide project management reviews and guidance for engineering managers.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage SAP Project Systems data and project administration, including project structures, networks, material charge-outs, scope updates, purchase requisitions, purchase order adjustments, invoice processing, and vendor support
- Create purchase requisitions for procurement of materials and/or contractor support
- Coordinate project reconciliations to validate all labour, material and invoice charges, and close out projects
- Reviews and processes invoices according to per contract and project accuracy
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including project forecasts, accruals, budget tracking and cost variance analysis
- Manage engineering projects within budget constraints and policy
- Review capital project budgets with Engineering Managers monthly and support corrective actions as needed
- Comply with all related CPKC policies including Procurement, Finance and Accounting
- High school diploma or general equivalency; post-secondary education is beneficial
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering, construction, or the railroad industry, with hands-on experience managing project scope, budgets, deliverables, and schedules to drive successful project completion
- Understanding of Engineering Field Operations
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications Excel and SAP for data tracking, reporting and project support
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
