PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Manager of Signals and Communications Wayside Projects is accountable for providing mentorship and managerial leadership of employees who control the installation, maintenance, diagnostic, and repairs of new wayside equipment to meet safety standards. The assigned geographical territory for this role covers the province of British Columbia.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Direct safety leadership and cultivates continuous improvement in workplace safety
  • Coordinates performance of the construction services delivered and initiates corrective action where appropriate
  • Implement policies, processes, and procedures to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Identify and recommends innovative work methods, new processes, and standard methodologies
  • Accountable for completion and final documentation of construction projects
  • Liaise with Regulatory agencies for compliance and new installations
  • Manage the work performed and within budgetary guidelines
  • Coach/mentor team to boost their efficiency, assess personal efficiency and provide development opportunities
  • Offer mentorship to adjust the coordinated plan based on shifts in demand and schedule
  • Fully use the collective agreement for effective work management

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Must have valid drivers’ license
  • Proficient knowledge of Signals and Communications (S&C) Equipment and Principles
  • Knowledge and comprehension of collective agreements
  • Knowledgeable on S&C Standards and Regulatory requirements
  • Proficient knowledge computer applications (word, excel, PP, SAP, CAM’s)
  • Previous leadership and managerial experience

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
