PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As an Assistant Roadmaster you will partner with the Roadmaster to ensure the backbone of rail operations—the track infrastructure—is safe, efficient, and built for peak performance. Drive cost-effective engineering solutions across the geographic territory to keep train operations running like clockwork. Take ownership of professional oversight and regulatory compliance, ensuring the network not only meets standards but sets the benchmark. With unwavering commitment, maintain a reliable, resilient infrastructure that powers seamless and secure transportation.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Champion safety excellence by supporting the Roadmaster in enforcing CPKC's safety practices, policies, and procedures, ensuring all employees prioritize a culture of protection and compliance
  • Drive performance success by aiding in the effective delivery of compliance, service standards, and financial outcomes that fuel operational and organizational goals
  • Lead with agility by coordinating emergency responses to service interruptions within the geographic territory while executing seasonal strategies for winter readiness, flood resilience, and fire prevention
  • Foster workplace harmony by assisting in the management of employees within the terms of the collective agreement and proactively addressing disputes and grievances to maintain a collaborative environment
  • Strategically plan for the future by contributing to the capture and analysis of data that informs annual and multiyear capital investment priorities
  • Ensure precision and quality by closely monitoring Track Programs & Equipment (TP&E) projects to uphold the highest standards of excellence and reliability across all initiatives

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5 years of previous railroad experience leading a crew

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

As an employee with a North American presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements.

 

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
