PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Are you passionate about protecting the safety and integrity of railroad infrastructure? The Bridge Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our railroad infrastructure by overseeing inspections of bridges and related structures across the network. This leadership position involves providing expert guidance based on real-time field assessments, mentoring maintenance teams, and collaborating with engineering staff to address structural concerns. The supervisor is responsible for developing effective action plans and ensuring compliance with all safety standards. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct thorough bridge inspections aligned with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) bridge safety standards and CPKC’s industry-leading bridge safety management policies, ensuring the safety and reliability of vital infrastructure
- Review and audit bridge maintenance and renewal activities to confirm they adhere to CPKC’s Structures Red Book guidelines, promoting consistent and high-quality standards
- Advise territory managers on best practices and recommendations for bridge inspection and ongoing maintenance, playing a key role in asset protection and reliability
- Perform inspections of various structural assets—including bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables—to guarantee their safe and efficient operation
- Manage the planning and oversight of bridge maintenance projects within your territory, driving project success from inception to completion
- Operate specialized bridge inspection vehicles to facilitate detailed assessments and streamline inspection processes
- Foster strong partnerships with engineering team members throughout your assigned region, enhancing collaboration and information sharing
- Coordinate logistics by securing required track authorities for on-track bridge inspections, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver’s license
- Certified as a bridge inspector, or willing to achieve certification through CPKC’s Bridge Management Program
- Capable of inspecting bridges at various heights, with readiness to use fall protection equipment as required
- Proficient in computer applications, with experience using spreadsheets and word processing software for reporting and analysis
- Minimum 3 years’ experience performing railroad bridge inspection, maintenance, or construction tasks
- At least one year of supervisory experience overseeing bridge maintenance, repair, or construction crews

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
