PURPOSE OF POSITION:

New hire Qualified Diesel Mechanic will receive a $15,000 signing bonus. In this role you will inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with governmental and company regulations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments and sometimes machine tools
• Inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives, including air brakes, diesel engines, and air compressors
• Perform air brake tests
• Operate welding equipment to cut or make necessary repairs
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Preference given to those with a Journeymen diesel, Heavy-Duty, Industrial Electrician, Truck, Farm Implement Mechanics or related fields
• Automotive Technicians and Electricians will also be considered with apprenticeship credits offered for prior work experience
• Strong problem solving and computer skills
• Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job
• Will be required to have obtained all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments
• CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; must be able to work on various shifts and days off

Medical Requirements:
CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.  This position is a safety sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.
