Senior Linux Administrator
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As a Senior Linux Administrator (internally called Specialist, IS Infra Platforms Linux) responsible for Linux operational support, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades and expansion, on-call rotation. In addition, they will provide support to provisioning/operational staff, as well as work closely with the architecture group in design support and validation of new designs and installations.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide direction and advice pertaining to capacity planning
- Provide direction and advice pertaining to future installations and design
- Provide direction to automate and orchestrate future use of Linux environments (Tanium, Orchestrator, automation suites)
- Configuration management utilizing Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, Chef, Desired State Configuration (DSC)
- Scripting languages (PowerShell, bash, python)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 10 to 15 years Infrastructure experience
- 1 to 3 years virtual infrastructure experience
Knowledge in the following preferred:
- Virtualization Technologies using VMware/Nutanix/Hyper V (MS suite)
- Provide direction and advice pertaining to design and configuration of converged infrastructure
- Cluster experience (SLES, RH would be good)
- Vcenter or Nutanix tools
- Storage Technologies using Dell/EMC and Netapp
- Dell/EMC and Netapp replication technologies
- Protocols including CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FC
- Cisco Networking Products
- Networking technologies including, but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, Routing Protocols, Switching
- Cisco UCS Servers
- VMWare Hypervisor as well as some UCS bare-metal)
- Knowledge and use of containerization platforms
- Strong Communications Skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated experience documenting environments, runbooks, etc.
- Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and automation technologies
- Infrastructure as Code platforms: Terraform, Packer, Azure Resource Manager/CloudFormation templates
