PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Specialist, Receivables Management, you will analyze and resolve complicated, escalated, or aged accounts to protect CPKC’s financials. You will lead drill down activities to address the root cause of issues. You will provide support, coaching and mentoring to the Receivable Management team.  You will maintain a portfolio of Receivable balances, issuing collection letters and initiating phone calls, while at the same time addressing customer disputes, concerns, and inquiries.

 

This position is based in Winnipeg, MB or Kansas City, MO.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Strategically manages multiple complicated, escalated, or aged accounts by investigating, validating, and resolving discrepancies or disputes by working with both CPKC’s internal & external customers. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships
  • Drills down to the root cause to resolve complex issues ensuring a go-forward process is in place
  • Builds business cases to support the resolution of accounts
  • Leads projects and performs other duties as may be assigned.  Provides subject matter expertise and support functions to other departments or projects
  • Timely monitoring and collecting on own portfolio of past due receivables while maintaining confidentiality and protecting CPKC’s financial position
  • Adherence to daily targets and departmental objectives

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Three years’ experience in a collections or related role
  • Railroad or transportation experience preferred
  • Project experience considered an asset
  • Proven history of driving results in receivables reduction
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office is required
  • SAP system (ECC & S4) knowledge is an asset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills with a proven ability to deliver results
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong situational awareness
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written with both internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Ability to critically think through complex problems and offer solutions

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
