PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

In this demanding position, you will collaborate with a team in a fast-paced production setting, where your responsibilities will include inspecting and repairing railcars and locomotives to ensure compliance with the standards set forth by the Federal Railroad Association (FRA) and the Association of American Railroads (AAR). You will also be tasked with responding to main line outages and delegating duties as necessary.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Repair, maintain and inspect freight car equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform all preventative maintenance work & repairs on trucks, underframe, structure, safety appliances, braking systems, draft systems and any associated tests
• Perform all work associated with rush repairs, road work and supplementary service operation of equipment
• Repair and application of all associated piping & valves, guards, shrouds, covers and any cutting, burning, welding, grinding, soldering and brazing associated with removal or application of components
• Maintain, inspect, service, test and repair all systems on locomotives
• Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelines
• Diagnose and repair low voltage on locomotive electrical systems
• Service locomotive cabs which include cleaning cab walls, locomotive toilets, windows and floors
• Complete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manuals

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a high school diploma or general equivalency
• Minimum 2 years’ railroad experience in locomotive maintenance and rail car repair
• Dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines/rules
• Strong communication skills (provide clear and concise instructions/directions)
• Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
