PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with governmental and company regulations.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Diagnoses diesel engine malfunctions and makes indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments and sometimes machine tools and other duties as assigned;
- Repair roadway work equipment (track machinery) and components;
- Troubleshoot and performs repairs to equipment and components such as gas and diesel engines, transmissions and differentials, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, workheads, and similar repairs;
- Perform work related to overhaul of roadway equipment;
- Diagnose malfunctions and make repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments, machine tools. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Mechanical experience on diesel engines;
- Experience with tool operation (lathe, vertical mill Leblond and Bridgeport);
- Must understand and apply mechanical principles, make judgments regarding defects for repairs and replacements;
- Must exercise good hand and eye coordination, oral communications and understand printed/written information.
