PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As an Electronic Equipment Maintainer you will perform preventative, corrective maintenance. As well as repairs of construction and commissioning of radios and base stations, wired or wireless communication systems and equipment, wayside detection systems and Train Control systems throughout CPKC’s SOO line territory.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Facilitate repairs, inspections and return of bad order circuit cards and components through equipment vendors
  • Use computer programs for diagnostics in fixing electronic equipment, software burning, software uploading/downloading, downloading event logs, and other various functions
  • Test, inspect, and repair signal apparatus to meet requirements set forth by CPKC and FRA regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and locate equipment problems and take corrective action minimizing the impact on crew production
  • Handle and detail applicable FRA test and inspection reports
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of S&C equipment & systems deployed on the property
  • Guide and lead other employees who may be assisting the Electronic Technician in their work
  • 80-90% travel requirement with travel accommodation and meal allowance provided

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license to operate company vehicle: Commercial driver’s licenses is an asset
  • Valid FCC General Radio Telephone Operators License (GROL) or International Society of Certified Electronic Technicians (ISCET certification) is an asset
  • Acquire certifications in CPKC's safety rules
  • Must be able to perform work that can be physically demanding, related construction and/or electrical/electronic field
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.
  • Proficient in communication (ability to provide clear and concise instructions/directions)
  • An emphasis on safety is essential for all employees. This is a high-risk environment - working around heavy moving equipment

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
